Why don’t we drink beer with straw?

It’s not good for environment, and what else?

We have been drinking our cold beverages with straws. Water, mineral water, any type of soda including coke, cold coffee, some cocktails so on so forth.

But we don’t drink beer with it.

Why?

We don’t drink beet with straw!

But the history of straw begins with beer.

Around 3.000 BCE, Sumerians invented straw to drink their beers. during the fermentation process of beer, solid byproducts were sinking to the bottom of the cup, and they used straws not to consume them. The straw material was a gold tube inlaid with the precious blue stone.

However, we gave up this style, because:

  1. It is not a necessity anymore. We don’t have byproducts at the bottom of the beer.
  2. We like to enjoy our beverages more, instead of only consuming them. By sipping, the taste is spreading all around the mouth.
  3. The image of straw seems more fun than drinking beer, which is a little bit anarchist. Straw might be good for sodas or cocktails, right?

On top of them, there are some people who still prefers to drink their beers with straws.

Thus the main reason of drinking our beer without straw is, we want our beverage to be distributed through our mouth, instead of just sipping it.

Before closing the subject…

Oceans are full of plastics that threat the sea life and all our future. Please do not use plastic straws, and encourage bars and restaurants not to make use of them.
